Helen Keller once said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement, nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”

What are you doing to promote hope and/or confidence for your students? Are you promoting a sense of optimism or defeat? Are you and your students feeling confident?

  1. As a young girl I admired and was in awe of the accomplishments of Helen Keller. I remember the day she died with much sadness. As a teacher I taught my students to remember the abbreviations of the NE states using sign language finger spelling. This FUN activity helped give every student confidence not only in Social Studies but in other challenges as well. Giving students that confidence in themselves,and as a teacher SEEING that confidence was a huge reward and blessing.
    Often now I still ask myself;
    What are my hopes for my future? What am I confident that I can achieve to realize these hopes? We should never lose our desire to dream bigger and have the confidence to make it happen.
